Artist's rendering from a park postcard featuring the Fort as centerpiece of the "Rootin' Tootin' Rip Roarin'" section of the park. The rendering shows guests on the high catwalks, which were originally planned to be open to the public, but never were |
| The foundations of the Fort begin to take shape along the shore of the lake. The Fort will serve as the counterweight which keeps tension on the Skyride cable, so two large concrete pits are created as shafts in which the massive counterweights will hang |

The familiar towers facing the lake begin to rise as the Skyride station structure is built in the center, and support columns for the Runaway Train are placed along the edge of the lake |
| One of the two towers that will form the entrance to the Fort attractions is nearly complete. The message spray painted onto the plywood seems to show there was a competition between the construction crews to see who could complete their tower first, and this team seems to have won |

The towers are capped and the connecting walkway is in place as work continues. The structure of the Runaway Train appears to be nearly complete at this stage, but the Skyride cables have not yet been strung |
| The first car of the Runaway Train's four trains arrives and is placed on the holding siding |

As opening day grows ever closer, the balconies around the tops of the towers are nearly complete. The Skyride cables and Runaway Train appear ready to roll, and in the background the canvas skin has been placed on the Teepee. Construction on the Fort and the Rootin' Tootin' Rip Roarin' section of the park was not completed by the July 1st opening day, and the area opened on July 4th |
